Biography
Early Life Malcolm “Mac Miller” McCormick was on January 19,1992 in Pittsburgh, PA to parents Karen Myer and Mark McCormick. He quickly found music and learned how to play piano, drums, guitar, and bass by the age of 6. He attended Taylor Allerdice highschool in Pittsburgh. He was influenced by some of the well known rappers of his time such as Big L, Lauryn Hill, Outkast, and A Tribe Called Quest. Rise to Fame He soon began making his own rap's and in 2007 produced his first song with his group called the Ill Spoken. By 2009 he started producing solo songs and made two albums entitled “The Jukebox” and “The High Life” and began starting to get well known. In 2010 Mac had gained much buzz and recieved many record deals but decided on Rostrum Records. Success Later that year he produced an album with the record called "K.I.D.S". Mac’s videos have now gained more than 165 million hits on www.youtube.com/treejtv, including 6 videos with 15 million views each. This success has now helped Mac to have sold out shows across the world with his tours becoming internationally sold out. In 2011 Mac’s popularity grew with his debut Rostrum EP, “On and On and Beyond,” which sold over 60,000 copies. Mac has also sold over a million singles total with little to no radio airplay. His debut album “Blue Slide Park” reached #3 overall on the iTunes Albums Chart just from pre-orders. In the past year Mac has not released any albums but has gone on a tour over the summer with Wiz Khalifa another well known Pennsylvania rapper. Future He has also given estimates for when his next albums will be released. They will be called "Pink Slime", which will come out by the end of this year and "Watching Movies With The Sound Off", which should come out sometime in 2013. Mac has shown his ability and skill to make music and only the future will tell if he will stay on top of his game. |
